I’ve always said that homeschooling is not for me. I guess tomorrow we’ll find out how true that is…
As the majority of us wake up tomorrow to a week at home with unprecedented levels of disruption, inconvenience, and social distancing measures, we a stark choice. Will we embrace the quieter, gentler rhythms of the coming weeks or resent it? Will we demonstrate extravagant love and kindness to our friends and neighbors or will selfishness win the day? Will we be people who seek to find joy and show gratitude in the most difficult of circumstances, or choose to grumble, complain and fret about our lot? Will we fix our eyes on the steady, faithful, unchanging presence of God or will we choose to put our hope and trust in the ways of the world—with all its panic, unpredictability, chaos, and stress?
We can’t control what is happening but we CAN control how we respond. Let’s go into this week with an attitude that reflects Christ—one of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Let’s trust an unknown future to a known God (Corrie Ten Boom), and show others how to do the same.
Paul wrote to the Philippian church, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ (Philippians 1:27, NIV). As people of faith in a 21st century world, we might face quite different challenges, but the message remains the same: represent Jesus well—no matter what.
Current events may be outside our control but our attitude is not. Choose it wisely—it may make all the difference in the world.
And all the very best to you fellow (somewhat reluctant!) homeschooling mamas. It’s going to be great! 😉😘
